Terminal Connects but Desktop or File Manager Does Not Open

Check the following in order:

  1. Confirm the server is 64-bit Linux with a kernel version of at least 3.10.
  2. For NAS devices, restricted cloud environments, or embedded devices, use a root or admin account. Restricted accounts may not be able to start the backend processes required by the graphical interface.
  3. Confirm that the SFTP subsystem is enabled. The graphical file manager depends on SFTP; see SSH login troubleshooting.
